《中国刑警》是一部男人戏，所以该剧的“红花”均是一帮实力派的男艺人。曾荣获过金鸡、百花等多项大奖的著名演员高明，他延续一贯的戏路，演绎一位高大正义的警察局局长，而刚刚从《延安颂》中走出来的“蒋介石”马晓伟，则将主演反派人物刘羽泉。　　据说这部电视剧是“警察自己演警察的纪实电视剧，里面含盖了11个案子”，也就是说这部电视剧一共有11个故事，都是现实发生过的案子。
