来自小城的80后青年乔乐生，是一名出色律师，正当他自信生活尽在掌握的时候，婚礼前的意外车祸夺走了辛苦经营的一切。面临巨额赔偿，背负沉重罪恶感，他隐瞒实情，“甩掉”未婚妻杨曼，独自承担后果。他逃避原有生活，放弃原职到企业打工、收养孤儿，从头开始，打响了一场幸福保卫战。美女设计师董芳感情遭遇危机，自我封闭，被朋友戏称为“爱无能”。乔因为家具、房子和孩子，不断与董遭遇。杨曼满怀对乔乐生的误解认识了富人于连海，渐渐为其所动，但又不舍过去。于得知乔杨的过去后，设计百般刁难乔。两对欢喜冤家纠结重重，却越走越近。朋友间的鼓励，亲人间的温暖，使乔乐生终于克服心理障碍，重建幸福生活，并赢得了董芳的芳心。在奔向幸福的途中，他们都走了不少弯路，错过了许多身边的风景，蓦然回首，才发现幸福就在自己手中。
