大学刚毕业的王大流爹不疼娘不爱，命中带衰。在30岁生日当天，无人问津的王大流心情低落，在朋友圈直播“自杀”。前女友薇薇来电，心生希望的大王流刚要去接，却没想到真的发生意外，“自杀”成功。濒死之际，王大流眼前浮现出年幼被欺负、实习被蹂躏，被最好的兄弟骗和年幼丧母等悲催事儿……\r当王大流再次睁眼的时候，一个黑衣男子站在自己的眼前，自己则躺在医院的停尸房里。黑衣人手拿写有王大流生平的“死亡笔记”，自称是死神，让王大流在“死亡确认书”那页上签字，赶紧去为自杀者准备的14层地狱。王大流不信，死神使神通证明了自己的身份，王大流不得不各种辩解自己的“自杀”行为，说着对前女友薇薇电话的念想，求死神放自己一马。死神却说自己也只是个“死神界”的小打工仔，只是管朝阳区这一片的，无权改变什么。就在王大流被逼签字的刹那，女护士林曦的出现让王大流看到了生机。原来死神一直暗恋林曦，却苦于每周“接单”（利用“滴滴死神”软件找到死者，然后让死者在死亡确认书上签字）工作繁重，没时间追求心爱的姑娘。在王大流的百般教唆下，死神与他达成协议：死神去追求林曦，这期间由王大流代理死神。只要王大流能够在约定的时间内完成最后的6单，就让其重生。王大流的代理死神之路就此展开：他不仅经历了神奇的5组死者，帮他们完成了在人间的最后心愿，更在这过程中重新收获了爱情与亲情,重新找到了人生的意义……
